How Intuit Uses Karat

Intuit's Karat screen follows the standard 60-minute format: brief introduction, domain questions, and approximately 40 minutes of live coding.

Domain questions may touch on data structures and general software engineering concepts. Given Intuit's financial data processing focus, candidates sometimes report domain questions related to data integrity, API design principles, or how to handle high-volume transaction processing conceptually — though these are discussion-level questions, not system design deep-dives.

The coding segment follows Karat's standard progressive structure. Intuit does not appear to customize the problem set. The emphasis on correctness and clear communication is the same as any other Karat interview.

Days 5–7: Mixed practice: array + hash combined problems. Time yourself. When the clock stops, review what you did and did not narrate.

Days 8–10: Three-part progressive problems. Simulate 40-minute sessions. Note precisely where you ran out of time.

Days 11–12: Domain question practice. Prepare 2-minute answers for: "what is a hash table and when would you use one?", "how do you handle errors in a financial calculation?", "describe a time you debugged a data integrity issue."
